Community Cabinet welcomed on the Gold Coast

Premier Steven Miles and his Cabinet rounded out May with an important visit to the Gold Coast, hosting Community Cabinet in town.

The event enabled the Queensland Government to lay out its plans for the region and the state while engaging with locals, workers, business owners and other stakeholders on the issues and opportunities that matter most to them.

There were 89 bookings for meetings with Cabinet Ministers, and 275 locals registered for the town hall-style event.

We are listening to Queenslanders and delivering the biggest cost of living support package in history, helping with household bills and putting downward pressure on inflation.

This includes:

  • $1000 off every electricity bill for all Queensland households (with a further $300 from the Federal Government taking the relief to $1300) and a further $372 rebate for vulnerable households
  • 20 per cent reduction in vehicle registration fees
  • 50 cent public transport fares across all Translink public transport services from 5 August 2024
  • $200 FairPlay vouchers for sport and active recreation activities for up to 200,000 Queensland children.

A growing region like the Gold Coast deserves a world-class health system, and the Queensland Government is delivering its largest ever health budget for the region with a $2.4 billion investment in the local Health and Hospital Service in 2024–25.

The growth on the Gold Coast is why we are also delivering our Big Build, a record infrastructure investment including the Coomera Connector, Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, and so much more.

The Queensland Government is securing the economic prosperity of the Gold Coast by investing in community safety measures, including boosting the number of police personnel in the district through new recruits.

Thank you to the Gold Coast!
