Countdown to 50 cent Translink fares

The countdown is on until 5 August when 50 cent fares come into effect on all modes of public transport across the Translink network.

This six-month trial of the cheapest public transport fares in our state’s modern history means Queenslanders will be able to travel on South East Queensland trains (excluding Airtrain), ferries, buses, Gold Coast trams, and all regional urban buses for just 50 cents.

This is a key part of the biggest cost of living relief package ever for Queensland, helping with household bills and putting downward pressure on inflation.

Significantly reducing the cost barrier to public transport will save existing commuters thousands of dollars and will encourage more Queenslanders to make the switch from road to rail, or other forms of public transport included in the trial.

Commuters will still need to tap on and off for their journey using Smart Ticketing, a go card, or by purchasing a paper ticket, to access the reduced fare.

More information on the six-month trial of 50 cent fares is available on the Translink website .

Customers can also visit Translink’s Service Capacity Tracker  to access forecasts of the space available on their preferred service based on the day and time they plan to travel.
