Queensland’s Big Build is all go on the Gold Coast

Our Big Build is all about building the infrastructure we need for our growing state—investing in critical projects like railways, building hospitals, schools, houses, pumped hydro, and improved energy transmission infrastructure.

The Queensland Government is developing and expanding productivity-enhancing infrastructure and capital works with the Gold Coast Big Build increased to $2.8 billion in the 2024–25 Queensland State Budget, supporting an estimated 7200 Gold Coast jobs.

We are delivering the Coomera Connector, with Stage 1 under construction right now, and the $1.5 billion upgrade to the Pacific Motorway between Varsity Lakes (Exit 85) and Tugun (Exit 95).

More than $1.2 billion, in partnership with the Australian Government and Gold Coast City Council, is funding the Gold Coast Light Rail (stage 3) extension from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads.

The Queensland Government is improving transport and travel options by investing $500 million towards the construction of new train stations at Pimpama, Hope Island, and Merrimac.
