Mackay’s position at the heart of Queensland’s resource industry has been boosted by the Queensland Government offering more than $2.6 million in grants for businesses and research bodies to advance mining technology.

The $2.67 million Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Collaborative Project Fund invites researchers, government agencies, resource companies, and industry groups to help tackle challenges in the sector, including environmental issues, emissions management, renewable energy, and safety.

Mackay is one of Queensland’s major resource industry support hubs, backing the state’s METS sector through the Queensland Government’s $5.7 million investment in the Mackay Resources Centre of Excellence, delivered in partnership with Mackay Regional Council.

The METS sector contributes $7 billion in revenue to Queensland’s economy and will be a significant factor as the world shifts towards cleaner and greener power.
