The Queensland Government’s Homes for Queenslanders plan is boosting social and affordable housing in Mackay.

Local company, Fergus Builders recently started construction on seven one-bedroom apartments in North Mackay. These apartments are tailored toward single and older people, freeing up larger social homes for families.

These units add to the 74 homes already delivered by the Queensland Government in the Mackay Whitsunday region.

Local renters are also being supported by another key pillar of the Homes for Queenslanders plan, the Renters Relief Package.

The package comes at a time in need and provides $160 million over five years to help Queenslanders find, get and keep a rental home.
