Delivering more homes for Queenslanders

The Central Queensland Critical Response Team will build on the success of the Critical Response Team in Brisbane.
Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works

A new rapid response team will be established in Central Queensland to help people experiencing homelessness.

The team is part of the Queensland Government’s new long-term housing plan – Homes for Queenslanders – which also includes a 20 per cent uplift in funding for homelessness services.

The Critical Response Team will regularly visit known areas where people are experiencing homelessness and offer support to help them find accommodation.

The Central Queensland team will include dedicated Housing and Homelessness Services staff and work in conjunction with government and non-government organisations to engage with people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

More funding for homeless organisations and rolling out rapid response teams will help people with accommodation challenges.

The Critical Response Teams have already helped hundreds of people find alternative accommodation such as social housing, private rentals, and boarding houses.

Anyone who needs housing assistance can contact the Rockhampton Housing Service Centre on (07) 4848 7000 during business hours or call the 24/7 Homeless Hotline on 1800 474 753.
