Premier Steven Miles travelled to Townsville with his Cabinet on 10 July 2024 to meet with locals and hear directly the opportunities and challenges that matter most to them.

As one of the state’s fastest growing regions, the event also gave locals the chance to engage with the Queensland Government on the 2024–25 State Budget, including nation-leading cost-of-living measures.

The 2024–25 State Budget includes $1.5 billion for Townsville Hospital and Health services, $71 million to maintain and upgrade Townsville schools, $1.5 billion for local Big Build projects, and $73.5 million to expand and improve social housing, in partnership with the Australian Government.

The budget also contains an $11.2 billion nation-leading package of cost-of-living relief and targeted concessions for all Queenslanders.

Additionally, the Queensland Government is delivering several community safety initiatives in the region, including a Victims of Crime Community Recovery Pilot, a High Risk Youth Court program, and a new police helicopter in Townsville.

Townsville Community Cabinet was a busy event, with Cabinet Ministers making themselves available to meet with more than 200 local stakeholders.

More than 300 residents also attended a town hall-style meeting.

Thank you for hosting Community Cabinet, Townsville!
