Bohle TAFE’s Townsville Trade Training Centre is capitalising on Queensland’s future as a renewable superpower, opening a Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Training Facility and Advanced Manufacturing Skills Lab on 10 July.

The $18.29 million build and upgrades are open and ready to skill locals with qualifications in electrical, engineering and construction trades.

This new, publicly-owned facility means more locals can take advantage of Free TAFE to get into a good career, including through the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, which is among Townsville’s most popular courses.

The opening joined with the announcement of an expansion to the Gateway to Industry Schools Program which will now include renewable energy in partnership with Energy Skills Queensland.

Over the next two years, more than 2000 Queensland students from 30 high schools, including five in Townsville, will get a career head start with the Renewable Energy Gateway to Industry Schools Program.

The new Bohle TAFE facilities and Gateway to Industry Schools Program are aligned with the Queensland Government’s Good Jobs, Great Training: Queensland Skills Strategy 2024-2028, and the$30 million Queensland’s Clean Energy Workforce Roadmap. The new facilities are also part of the $100 million Equipping TAFE for our Future initiative.
