The Domestic and Family Violence Portal (DFV Portal) has information about support services for people experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV).

If you need support

If you need support or someone to talk to you can:

• contact 1800RESPECT by calling 1800 737 732 or texting 0458 737 732 for confidential counselling, information and support
• talk to your local DFV support service
• contact a DFV helpline
• find a counsellor, social worker(Opens in new window) or psychologist(Opens in new window) in your area and contact them directly
• call DVConnect(Opens in new window) on 1800 811 811 (24 hours)—they can help you make a plan to feel safe, whether you want to stay in the home, are thinking about leaving, or have already left.

If you need financial assistance

Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ) is a statewide government service dedicated to helping victims recover.

We can help you to:

• apply for financial assistance
• find out what costs you can claim (e.g. what medical, counselling, loss of earnings and safety upgrades can be considered)
• gain access to other services that may help you
• learn about your rights as a victim of crime.
