About the Queensland Digital Identity
Your QGov digital identity is becoming a Queensland Digital Identity
If you used to log in to Queensland Government online services with a QGov digital identity, you will soon be using a Queensland Digital Identity instead. Visit the QGov-Queensland Digital Identity transition for more information.
Your Queensland Digital Identity (QDI) is how we establish that you are who you say you are.
A digital identity is like a virtual version of yourself that exists on the internet. It represents who you are when you're online. Some Queensland Government services will only require an email address and password to access the service, while others may require a higher level of assurance.
The Queensland Digital Identity system is modern, robust and innovative, and uses latest technology to safeguard your private information. Meeting the highest national standards and security protocols for digital identity, the Queensland Digital Identity is already used in the Digital Licence App.
Your QDI is highly assured, and unique to you, and you should never share your login details with anyone. If someone attempts to use your QDI they would need to know your email address, your password, and have possession of your mobile phone.
Privacy and security
Your QDI is secured by best-practice technology, to keep your private information safe and secure.
When you use your personal documentation to create/verify your QDI, we verify those details through an online checking system.
Once a QDI is verified, we take note of the credentials that were used, so that they cannot be used again to verify for a different QDI. You can check the QDI Privacy Notice to see our policy for retention of information.
Your information is protected by industry-best security practices and technology. We have undergone rigorous security testing to ensure your information is protected, and this testing will continue in the future.
You can read the Privacy Notice for the QDI, to find out how we store and use your private information.
We also completed a Privacy Impact Assessment on the QDI, to ensure it meets the needs and requirements of everyone who has one. You can read the Privacy Impact Assessment.
Can I delete or deactivate my Queensland Digital Identity?
You can apply to delete your QDI. Where Queensland law permits, we will delete your QDI if requested. Where we are legally unable to delete your QDI, we will deactivate it.
To apply to delete or deactivate your QDI, you will need to do one of the following:
- call us on 1800 317 389 (Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm, excluding public holidays)
- visit one of our customer service centres, during opening hours.
We will verify your identity before processing your application to deactivate your QDI.
Please note: If you have the Digital Licence, this will not remove your credentials from your app. To do that, you will need to securely reset your Digital Licence, by visiting Settings within the app.
If your QDI is deleted or deactivated and you wish to use it in the future, you will need to contact us to reactivate it.
