If you’re a local bloke living in Tropical North Queensland*, you’re most at risk of being attacked by a croc, compared to those living in other areas of Queensland’s Croc Country.
Over time, it’s easy to become complacent and let good habits slip away.
But if you love fishing and boating you need to do what you can reduce your risk.
These Crocwiser tips provide simple reminders about how to stay safe in and around the water so you can continue to enjoy the great outdoors and the activities you love.

1. Leave the lure
- If you’re snagged in Croc Country, cut the line and let it go. It’s not worth losing your life.
2. Get behind a croc-blocker
- In Croc Country, keep something solid between you and the water. A croc’s more likely to get a mouthful of it than of you.
3. Keep your body in the boat
Arms, legs, head, the whole rig.
In Croc Country, you gotta keep your whole body back from the edge of the boat.
