Express your interest in land

The Queensland Government may transfer certain types of land directly to Traditional Owners—such as Deed of Grant in Trust or Indigenous Reserve lands.

For other land types, you can submit an expression of interest (EOI) for land to be transferred.

Who can apply?

To be eligible you must either:

  • have a connection with the land under Aboriginal tradition or Island custom
  • or

  • live on or use the land or neighbouring land.

What land can you express interest in?

You can make an expression of interest for:

  • available State land
  • land dedicated as a reserve under the Land Act 1994
  • a stock route (only under the Aboriginal Land Act 1991)
  • land subject to an occupation licence
  • land held under a lease under the Land Act 1994 by or for Aboriginal people or Torres Strait Islanders.
