Support for victims of property crime

We know property crime can cause distress and fear for victims—particularly if someone breaks into your home, steals your car or vandalises your property.

If you haven’t already, we recommend you report the crime to police.

ConnectCare

We have funded ConnectCare to provide:

  • individualised, trauma-informed, therapeutic counselling
  • psychological first aid
  • information, advice and referrals.

People affected by property crime can call ConnectCare on 1800 574 066.

Financial assistance

If you were threatened or injured by an offender, you can also apply for financial assistance.

You may be eligible to receive a lump sum special assistance payment and help to pay for recovery expenses. But we cannot reimburse stolen or vandalised property.

If you are also making a claim through an insurance provider, remember to give us your claim details when you apply for financial assistance from us. We will need to consider other payments you have received when we assess your application.
