Using the 'My fishing' functions

I'm trying to submit my trip but the swimming fish won't go away

Try logging out and logging back in to the app to see if your trip submits.

If you still need help, contact us by phone or email.

Where do I view my trip details?

After submitting a trip, you can view your fishing trip details in the 'My fishing trips' section of the app.

Can I edit or delete my trip after submitting?

You can't edit or delete your trip details once you have submitted them. However, you can claim your portion of the catch if you recorded it for the whole boat.

How do I add more information about my fishing trips?

At the bottom of the 'Record my fishing trip' page (below the 'Depredation' section), tap the 'Additional details (optional)' button to add extra info such as:

  • fishing location
  • fishing method
  • trip name
  • comments
  • photos.

How do I record my own catch if I recorded it for the whole boat?

You can claim your portion of a whole boat catch after submitting a trip.

Go to the 'My fishing trips' section of the app, find the relevant trip and tap on the species cards. Add your individual kept and released numbers to the 'My catch' section, then tap 'Save'.

You will then be able to see your catch amounts compared to the whole boat's totals for each species. In the 'My fishing stats' section, you can also filter between whole boat and individual catches.

Using the app offline

Can I still record my trip details when I'm offline?

You can record your fishing trip details while you are offline or at sea. If you submit a record while you are offline, it will sit in your app as a pending submission. Once you have internet connection again the record will be submitted.

You can choose to enter your trip details while you are at sea (we have added a great species tally function to help with this) or you can do it after your trip when you're back home — it's up to you!

My app is not working

The app has been designed to work even when you have no internet connection (except for the 'Which fish is this?' function).

However, if you have weak or patchy connectivity, the app can function poorly as it is shifting between the online and offline functionality.

Try setting your device to the 'Airplane' or 'Flight mode' option while the connection is poor quality, so you can continue to use the app.

Missing information

Why is the environmental information missing?

The environmental information for your fishing trips is based on the retrieve location and date for boat-based trips, or the fishing location and date for shore-based trips.

The app gets this information from the nearest weather station. However, not all stations collect the same or all data, so some information may be missing.

Why is the 'Can I fish here' map not updated to the latest rules and regulations?

We regularly update the 'Can I fish here' map with the current rules and regulations.

However, sometimes an update may not be available immediately for release to the app.

If you see any issues like this, let us know so we can update the app when the missing information is available.

Sometimes, there may be local council bylaws and regulations that are not part of the Fisheries Act 1994 and so they will not appear in the app (unless requested by the local council).

Why are there missing images in the species section?

We are working to provide the best species images possible. Images will be updated as soon as they are available.

Why couldn't the 'Which fish is this?' feature identify my fish photo?

Currently, there are only 20 species that have been trained for image recognition. Sometimes the app will not be able to accurately identify your fish from a photo.

We hope to add more species to this collection to help improve the functionality.
