Email issues

This page includes tips to help you receive important emails from us.

Emails you may receive from us

There are many reasons that you may receive emails from the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

For example, we’ll email you if you have:

  • signed up for e-notices (such as registration and licence renewals)
  • signed up for e-reminders (such as renewal reminders for your licence and registration and infringement payment reminders)
  • requested an online access code for online services
  • completed a transaction with us online (such as renewing your licence)
  • made a booking for a practical driving test
  • enrolled in PrepL
  • supervised a trip taken by a learner driver using the Queensland Learner Logbook app
  • been issued an invoice that you need to pay
  • updated your email or mailing address with us
  • contacted us for help by phone or messaging and asked to be sent more information.

You may also receive courtesy Driver Offence Notification emails for vehicles in your name.

Note: If you receive an email from us that you think was meant for someone else, please message us or call 13 23 80.

Reasons an email may not reach you

Some reasons you may not receive an email we’ve sent include:

  • your mailbox is full and can’t receive new emails
  • you have an incorrect email address recorded with us
  • the email ended up in a junk or spam folder
  • your internet service provider blocked the email
  • your virus scanner or anti-spam tool removed the email
  • your device can’t connect to the internet to receive emails.

Steps you can take to resolve email issues

  • Clean up your mailbox
Check your email storage quota—if your mailbox is full, clean up your inbox and other folders to make space.

  • Check your Junk / Spam or Deleted / Bin email folder
If you find an email from us in one of these folders, you may have the option to mark an email as ‘Not spam’ or ‘Not junk’, depending on your email provider.

If you have rules configured to sort your mail automatically, make sure rule settings aren’t filtering out emails from us.

  • Add us to your ‘safe sender list’
To avoid missing emails from us, you can add us to your ‘safe sender list’.

Check your email provider’s help content for instructions—your email provider may also call this an ‘approved senders list’ or ‘email whitelist’.

Depending on what type of email you have, you may need to add addresses one at a time, as you receive emails or you may be able to add our main domain @tmr.qld.gov.au and other versions (for example @notices.tmr.qld.gov.au) to your ‘safe sender list’, to cover all of our emails at once.

  • Add us as a contact
When you receive an email from us, you can add our address as a new contact.

Check your email provider’s help information for instructions—depending on your email provider, this option may be called ‘Add to contacts’ or ‘Create new contact’.

  • Check the mail module for your virus scanner or anti-spam tool
See if emails from us are being filtered out. You may also check your virus scanner or anti-spam tool documentation to find out if it holds the emails in a Spam or Junk folder.
  • Check your network connection
Make sure you are connected to the internet and that you are receiving emails. Send yourself a test email to make sure your connection is working.

What to do if you receive a suspicious email

If you have received an email about registration or licensing services or products that you suspect is fraudulent, find out how to make sure these emails are legitimate before clicking on any links in it.

Viewing your e-notice and e-reminder history

You can use My history to see a list of the e-notices and e-reminders we’ve sent you.

Once you’ve logged in, choose the e-notice and e-reminder history option from the list.

You can also view or email a copy of documents that were attached to e-notices that you received, such as registration renewal notices.
