E-Mobility Rebate Scheme

The Queensland Government committed $2 million to the E-Mobility Rebate Scheme to provide Queensland residents with rebates to reduce the upfront cost of purchasing a new eligible e-bicycle or e-scooter. The scheme sought to reduce transport emissions and promote the safer usage of e-mobility devices by encouraging the uptake of high-quality e-bicycles and e-scooters for active transport.

If used safely and in compliance with the rules, e-scooters and e-bicycles offer significant environmental and social advantages by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, easing traffic congestion, promoting health, and improving the accessibility of transportation.

The Scheme opened on 23 September 2024 and was hugely popular, closing on Friday 25 October 2024.

Over 4500 Queenslanders applied for rebates of up to:

  • $500 per eligible e-bicycle (including cargo e-bicycles); or
  • $200 per eligible e-scooter.

There are no plans to extend the scheme or provide a new round of funding and  applications cannot be accepted following the Scheme closure. The Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) administered the Scheme and have updated the Scheme webpage.

Please note that due to the current Queensland State Government election caretaker period, QRIDA is continuing to assess applications that were received prior to the Scheme closing but is unable to finalise applications until after the caretaker period has concluded. It should be noted that accepting an application does not mean the application will be successful, nor does it mean funding is still available under this scheme.
